Service vessel; Police launch; River Thames launch
Scale 1:12. Full hull model; Plank-on-frame. This is a realistically painted model of a Thames police launch made entirely in wood with metal, plastic and organic material fittings. The model is made plank-on-frame and the hull is painted brick red with a fine white stripe which runs the entire length of the hull below the waterline and black above. The decks, cabin, and many of the fittings are made in unpainted wood which is mostly mahogany. The foredeck fittings include a hatch with sliding hatch cover, a coil of rope, a bow fender, a fender fixed to the port three quarter, and a stockless anchor. The cabin is glazed forward on either side, and the roof is painted white and has port and starboard navigation lights, two horns, a search light, an elevated mast head light, and a radio aerial. The cabin interior has two seats facing forward and one facing aft, as well as a steering wheel and life ring. There is a large casing for the engine and other equipment includes some rope and a boat hook. On the backboard is '77'. The transom stern has an integral light in the centre. The model is equipped with a brass pivoting rudder and three-bladed propeller. The model is displayed on a pair of figured mahogany crutches, connected by two wooden dowels.
