The Museum's world-class collection contains about 400 globes and globe gores from 1537 to the present day. These range from the very small, 70 mm diameter pocket globes to a 1000 mm diameter library globe by Coronelli. The Museum has celestial globes from the Islamic world and a few manuscript globes, but the vast majority are European printed globes by key makers such as Gemma Frisius, Jodocus Hondius and Gerard Mercator.
