Thomas Earnshaw (1749-1829)

Thomas Earnshaw was a watchmaker who improved and simplified the pioneering chronometer designs of John Harrison (1693-1776) and John Arnold (1736-1799), and who could be described as the father of the modern chronometer. He devised the spring detent chronometer escapement and his own form of temperature-compensated chronometer balance in 1782, and was the first to make chronometers that were simple and cheap enough to make them viable instruments of navigation.

We only use premium branded inks, and colours are independently verified to last between 100 and 200 years.

Delivery & returns

We print everything to order so delivery times may vary but all unframed prints are despatched within 2-4 days via courier or recorded mail.

Due to the coronovirus pandemic and Brexit situation, current shipping times may be longer, particularly for destinations outside the UK.

Delivery to the UK is £5 for an unframed print of any size.
