A half block model of the starboard side of the 16-gun corvette HMS 'Calliope' (1884), made entirely in wood and painted tan brown below the waterline, and black above with two narrow gold stripes just below the gunwale running the entire length of the vessel. Hull details include raised bulwark at the bow; rows of portholes and a single row of rectangular gunports amidships; bilge keels; two battery positions fore and aft of amidships; two starboard hawse holes, stern gallery windows and decoration; and a well for the propeller which is either missing or was not originally fitted.
