Allegory of fortune?

Print by James Minasi after Giovanni Battista Cipriani representing the goddess of Fortune scattering gold coins over the world. She is accompanied by six putti who are trying to grab her hair, a symbol of the difficulty of getting hold of and retaining fortune. It was probably influenced by Guido Reni's 'Fortuna', which is depicted running over the earth holding a purse from which fall coins and pearls, a putti holding on to her hair (now in a private collection in Bologna).Giovanni Battista CiprianiOriginal size: 406 mm x 325 mm
