Anchor

Scale: Unknown. A pattern model for a stockless anchor, circa 1951, made entirely in a tropical hardwood and depicted without its D-ring shackle. The shank is square in section, the top of which is rounded and there is provision for a shackle where the shank becomes narrower and has a hole passing through it. The crown is slightly convex but otherwise flat and sweeps upwards either side to form a pair of flat-bottomed arms, broadly rectangular in shape with rounded corners. The arms sweep upward terminating in a pair of pointed flukes. The shank pivots on the crown through an arc of about 75 degrees and there is a seam running along the centre of the crown where the two pieces of wood used in its manufacture have been joined together. On two diagonal corners of the crown there are notches, their purpose is unknown.
