Commander Frederick Wilbraham Egerton
An oval photographic miniature. A head portrait photograph of Commander Frederick Wilbraham Egerton, with long sideburn whiskers, looking slightly to the left (as seen by the viewer). He married Mary Augusta Phipps Hornby at Malta in 1879 while he was serving as acting Captain of the ironclad turret ship HMS Rupert (1872). Her father Vice Admiral Geoffrey Thomas Phipps Hornby was Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Station during this period and used the despatch vessel HMS Salamis (1863) during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-78) when it was under the command of Frederick Egerton before his transfer to Rupert
