Gold ring
18ct gold mourning ring commemorating Maria Ward (died 1850). The bezel of the ring is set with a cameo which is decorated with a depiction of an urn beneath a weeping willow tree. The back of the bezel contains a lock of plaited hair, which is set under crystal. The shoulders of the ring are decorated with a flower executed in black and white enamel. Inscribed inside the hoop of the ring are the words 'Maria Ward Obt 6th March 1850. Aet 88'. The ring is contained within a box with other mementos associated with Captain Lewis Mortlock.
