Maltese sailing vessel shore, possibly under repair. Inversed digital file to create b&w positive
An unwaxed paper calotype negative. A port side view, just aft of the broadside, of an unidentified Maltese vessel ashore, possibly under repair. The main mast has been stripped down to the bare pole and the rigging removed. In the foreground are two ship's boats with yards and spars on the ground behind. The high walls of the harbour side fortifications can be seen in the background. Calvert Jones arrived in Malta in late November 1845, writing to Talbot on 24 November about the journey through France. By mid April 1846 Jones was in Naples.
