From the Dark Side
In this image we can see the morning crescent moon. The waning crescent moon only rises high above the horizon of the Carpathian basin in autumn, but in this period of the year the weather is usually cloudy and rainy. Fortunately, in October 2017 an anticyclone wiped out the Carpathian basin with clear and still air, therefore the photographer could take a fairly good resolution picture with a spellbinding, special atmosphere of the thin crescent on the chilly, glitteringly bright sky. Born digital photograph entitled 'From the Dark Side' by László Francsics on 17th October 2017. Taken with homemade 250mm f/4 Carbon newton telescope at f/11, Skywatcher EQ6 mount, ZWO ASI 174 MM; 6250; f/4 increased to f/11; multiple 1/200 sec. Highly Commended in Our Moon category of Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018.
