An outline chart, for the purpose of marking off the track of a ship, 1829
Single sheet, engraving. 2 leaves joined on blue paper backing, further backed with linen. Ships' tracks are drawn on the chart and there is a table of ship and voyage details beside the title. On the back of the chart there are four columns of text recording a voyage outbound to India in 1852 and a return voyage in 1855, noting incidents including deaths, dancing, and the loss of the Colonel's dog overboard.
This chart was used to record nine voyages on troopships, to India and the Crimea, undertaken between 1852 and 1856 by an unnamed soldier.
