HMS Victory
Image information
HMS Victory
This watercolour shows 'Victory' after the completion of her restoration, a process with which Wyllie was very closely involved. It is possibly a study for the HMS 'Victory' poster designed by Wyllie. The culmination of the restoration of the 'Victory' was the visit on 17 July 1928 by King George V in order to inspect the latest restoration work. Both Wyllie and his son Harold were present on the ship that day.
