The 'Dreadnought'

'The Dreadnought, 104 Guns, At present Lying off Greenwich For The Seamen's Hospital'. Although similar to the plates in Cooke's 'Shipping and Craft' of 1829, this is in a larger format and was done as a commission for the Seamen's Hospital Society in 1831, apparently for publicity purposes. It appears to show her shortly after her arrival off Greenwich 'for the Seamen's Hospital' and before the later legend identifying her shown in PAD6061 was painted on her side. For Cooke's original drawing see PAE6161. It is mounted with PAD6150 and PAD6151.Edward William CookeOriginal size: 165 mm x 238 mm
