North Bay and Camp from the east
North Bay and Camp from the east
A view looking south west from the Barne Glacier at the north-end of North Bay towards the expedition hut and Cape Evans. The sea is very still with evidence of ice forming on the surface. The Castle Berg, later a continued subject of photography for Herbert Ponting, can be seen to the right of the ice-foot beyond the hut. Glacial rock moraines can be seen behind the hut.
This photograph was taken during an expedition to Cape Royds undertaken by Ponting, Nelson, Day and Lashly.
