HMS Woolston (1918) in a heavy sea
This depicts the Thornycroft built destroyer Woolston in 1939-1941. She was converted to an anti-aircraft escort destroyer at Chatham between May and October 1939. She is shown as originally converted with a short mainmast forward of the searchlight platform. In 1941 radar and single 20-mm oerlikon guns were fitted. Her pendant was L49 throughout the war. She is shown in the Firth of Forth with the Forth Bridge in the background.Object no: BHC3731
