'America' (1810); 'Barham' (1811); 'Gloucester' (1812)

Oliver Lang (Master Shipwright)

1290 x 330 mm

Scale: 1:48. This is a contemporary copy of a plan from Plymouth Dockyard showing the inboard profile for 'America' (1810), a 74-gun Third Rate, two-decker while being cut down to a 50-gun Fourth Rate, Frigate at Plymouth (see ZAZ1704 for the plan).  This was copied for use by Woolwich Dockyard when fitting the 'Barham' for sea in 1831. She too had been cut down from a 74-gun Third Rate to a 50-gun Fourth Rate in 1826.

The plan was later used for cutting the 'Gloucester' (1812) down to a 50-gun Fourth Rate from a 74-gun Third Rate at Chatham Dockyard between 1831 and 1832.
