A starboard near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the sampan number 1170 being sculled at Shanghai. The sampan has a shelter amidships on which her number is displayed. The photographer's ship was in Northern Chinese waters in the periods 3 June to 10 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938. Waters Collection: HNC0410
