Danish Official (Hans Elberg) and family
Danish Official (Hans Elberg) and family
Inglefield's 1854 expedition to the Arctic on HMS 'Phoenix' to provide supplies for the Belcher expedition. A Danish official with his wife and three sons. He may possibly be Hans Elberg (1808-88), assistant at Holsteinsborg 1850-54, governor 1854-73, with his wife Martha. Their clothes represent a fusion between Inuit and Nordic clothing.
