Christopher Wren (1632-1723)
A mezzotint of Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723). The print is inscribed underneath with the following text in Latin - Christopher Wren Eques, Aedificiorum Regalium per totam Angliam Praefectus, Basilica Paulinae, Templorum Oplerumq Publicorum Orbis Londinesis Post fatale Incendium AO Dmi MDCLXVI, Architectus, Curator. Christopher Wren had a great impact on the growing city of London, it was his suggestion that Greenwich should be the home of the Royal Observatory because it was on high ground, away from the smoke of central London and had good access by road and river.
