A crowded harbour with Dutch ships, smalschips and other craft
One of two drawings ( see also PAI7675) in light pencil and heavy black wash which suggest the style of the first Dutch war period, though there are other drawings on the same paper as this which are clearly of the 1658 period.
In the right foreground, is a stern view of a large galjoot and a yacht, a barge coming alongside the yacht and another pulling away on the left. In the centre, a smalschip at anchor is crowded with people. Other smalschips are lying alongside one another in the background, on of the on the fights and break of the quarterdeck. The figurehead seems to be a lion holding a triangular shield, and on the upper deck there are two ports between the chesstree and the entering ladder.
