An interpretation of a Mediterranean seascape. Several ships have been depicted sailing though a squall, on an unusually long canvas. The lateen-rigged Mediterranean vessel in the foreground to the right appears to be flying an Algerine flag. Surprisingly, in that case, an image of Saint Peter is clearly visible on the stern.
