A full hull model of a Portugese caravel
Scale: 1:30. A full hull model of a Portuguese caravel (circa 1450), a three masted cargo vessel, built in bread and butter fashion. Model is decked, equipped and fully rigged, with sails set. It depicts a vessel measuring 68 feet in length by 31 feet in the beam and an approximate tonnage of 140 burden. A Portuguese cross is displayed on the sails and eyes are painted on the bows. There are also three pennants flying from the head of the mast displaying the cross and coat of arms.
