A view from the Felixstowe shore looking across the River Deben to Bawdsey, with Bawdsey Manor in the background
The steam chain ferry 'Lady Quilter' (1894) can be seen crossing to the Felixstowe side. The other ferry, The 'Lady Beatrice' (1894), is beached out of service on the Bawdsey foreshore. Three Ipswich registered open boats are in the foreground: 'IH169' is dried out on the foreshore, and 'IH170' and 'IH177' are anchored afloat. In mid stream can be seen two gaff-rigged cutters at anchor, the left hand boat has '96LO' painted on her port bow.
