'Abas Dadasheff' (1897)
Scale: Unknown. A half block shipbuilders model of 'Abas Dadasheff' (1897), an oil tanker. The model is made entirely in wood in bread and butter construction. The hull below the waterline is finished in natural wood and varnished and complete with a rudder and stern frame with an aperture for a single screw propeller (not fitted). The upper portion of the hull is painted light grey with the forecastle, bridge deck and quarter deck painted a creamy white on which are painted thirteen circular portholes. There are four decks finished in natural wood and varnished, two of which are marked with individual planks in black ink whilst the main deck and forecastle are marked with the broader lines of deck plating. Fixtures and fittings include three truncated masts, four cargo hatches, a charthouse amidships, a truncated funnel and engine room skylight and a smaller rectangular skylight aft of the mizzen mast. The whole model is mounted on a wooden mahogany backboard with a moulded edge on which is painted in gold lettering "224' x 32' x 16' Oil Screw Steamer Abas Dadasheff 1250 DW on 12' 6" Draught" and then on an ivory plaque screwed to the backboard "No. 134 SS. The Caledon Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Limited. Dundee".
