Anchor

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Rodger's patent anchor (circa 1853). The model is made entirely of metal with a possibly galvanised finish. The shank is square in section and tapers out towards the crown where the arms curve upwards towards the flat, triangular shaped palms which are mounted on the lower side of each arm. There are two metal eyes welded on either side of the shank which were probably used for gravity shackles or securing and stowing the anchor on board ship. The metal stock is almost triangular in section and rests on a shoulder and is held in place by a fidded metal wedge (missing). There is a pair of circular eyes at the end of the stock whilst at the head of the shank is fitted a swivelling bow shackle to which is attached a length of anti kink chain. There is an inscription in black ink on the shank towards the crown: 'VI F 200'.

Original size: 574 mm x 122 mm x 188 mm
