Anchor
Scale: Unknown. A model showing how the arm of an anchor is manufactured. The model is made almost entirely in wood, stained and polished a dark brown colour. The metal rods that form the outer surface of the arm are depicted in wood and the solid iron core is also shown in wood. The rods are held around the core by two copper hoops. The arm is circular in section and tapers. The narrow end is cut off diagonally to reveal the core. The wide end is cut off at a slight angle with the core standing slightly proud and a wedge has been cut into the arm to accommodate the crown joint. The face of the wedge is cut at a more oblique angle than the wide end of the model.Original size: 138 mm x 38 mm
