Anchor - method of welding head

Scale: Unknown. A model of a standard Admiralty pattern anchor, showing the construction process, made entirely of polished metal (steel/iron?). The head consists of a rectangular section with a circular hole at one end and is complete with an anchor ring and a pair of small shoulders halfway down to support the stock. Below this section the shank is rounded with two flat sides and tapers towards the crown. The straight arms meet at the pointed crown and are set at an angle approximately forty five degrees to the shank. The arms are rounded in section with two flat faces and taper towards the end finishing under the flat triangular-shaped palms. On both sides of the crown the metal has been engraved to show the various joints and weld marks of how the individual arms are connected to the shank. On one side of the crown is a deep V-shaped cut showing a cross section of the arm and joint.
