Anchor model
Scale: Unknown. A model of a pickaxe anchor by James Briscoe, Sheerness (1863). The model is made entirely from iron and consists of a shank which is oval in section and tapers towards the crown and arms. The crescent-shaped arms are triangular in section with the palms formed into the upper face. The top of the shank forms into a rectangular section to which the two-part stock is bolted onto, and further secured, with a square band. The stock itself is triangular in section and is complete with a sphere at each end. Above the band is a pivoting bow shackle held on by a nut and bolt. Secured to the shackle is a quick release slip hook and single chain link, to which the anchor chain would be attached.
