Anchor model
Scale: Unknown. A model of a stockless anchor made entirely in aluminium alloy. The shank is round in section and is inscribed along its length on opposite sides "The Improved Britannic." and "R. Sykes & Son Ld. Cradleyheath". The top of the shank narrows to accommodate a D-ring shackle that pivots on a round-headed rivet. The bottom of the shackle has a ball joint that enables it to rotate on the crown through 360 degrees and well as pivoting in an arc of about 80 degrees. The bottom of the crown has a circular aperture to enable to ball joint freedom of movement. The bottom of the crown sweeps upward at the sides to the convex-bottomed arms. On either side of the crown are a pair of screws or bolts that appear to be securing a large ring that keeps the ball joint in its housing. The arms sweep upward from the crown terminating in a pair of arrow-shaped flukes.
