Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Wingate's patent anchor, 1867, made entirely in brass and paginated or oxidised a dark bronze colour. The shank is octagonal in section, apart from the middle which is square in section. The top of the shank is round and bulges to incorporate a large D-shackle that swivels on a round-headed bolt held in place by a spring clip (missing). The square section part of the shank is inscribed on its four faces: 'Wingate's', 'Patent', 'No 2', and '1867'. The bottom of the shank is also round and forms the crown. There are two pairs of arms, identical to one another, positioned one above the other and at 90 degrees to one another. They pivot on round-headed bolts secured to the shank by clips. The arms terminate in prominent and deeply curved outward-facing palms, the bottoms of which have circular apertures through them.
