Anchor model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a Porter's patent anchor, 1842. The model is made entirely in brass which has been lacquered, and the surface is a deep golden colour that has been tarnished. The stock can be removed by removing the securing wedge (missing). The stock is oval in section terminating at either end in oval buttons, and one end curves downward at an angle of 90 degrees. A shackle is riveted to the top of the shank and can be pivoted. The shank is rectangular in section and bulges outwards slightly in the middle. The arms pivot on a securing pin which passes through a fork in the bottom of the shank. The flukes have barbed protrusions on the outside edges, just below the palms. Close to the bottom of the shank is a swivelling double shackle.
