Augsburg dial for latitudes 0-75 North
Standard dial (see related terms) except for the following details: the compass has 32 points marked, 16 by French initials, and North is further indicated by a fleur-de-lys. There is a brass needle to indicate the magnetic variation and the compass needle, which is blued for North, is surmounted by a brass pyramidal pivot. Engraved around the compass are three towns with their latitudes: 'Kebec [Quebec] 47', 'Lion 45.46'' and 'Bologne 44.30''. The latitude arc is divided 0- and its inside edge carries a latitude: 'Vannes 47.40'.'
