Augsburg dial, underside
Augsburg dial for latitudes 6├×_-86├×_ north. The compass has a central eight-point rose and the needle is not blued. The remainder of the dial-plate is engraved with floral designs, flourishes and geometric patterns. The latitude arc is divided [6├×_]-[86├×_] and the hour ring is decorated with a simple pattern; its inner rim is numbered 3-12, 1-9. Hinged to the south side of the dial-plate, the plumb-bob support is elaborately shaped, engraved with foliate decoration and pierced to accommodate the plumb bob, which is missing. The dial is supported by three turned brass legs.
