Augsburg dial, underside
Augsburg dial for latitudes 12-90 north. Standard dial (see related terms) except for the following details: the compass is silvered, has an eight-point rose and is surrounded by an engraved border that includes acanthus leaves. The latitude arc is divided -9 and the back of the compass is engraved with a table of latitudes for places in Europe, headed 'Elev Pol'. The dial has a black octagonal leather case with blue silk lining and a brass hook fastener.
