'Balaena'; Hunting vessel; Whale factory ship
Scale: Unknown. A model of the 'Balaena' made entirely of wood with metal fittings partly painted in realistic colours with painted and drawn fittings and details. The hull is painted black with lime green at the waterline, white painted bulwarks and superstructures and a narrow white stripe running the entire length of the hull. The decks are unpainted. The forward superstructure incorporates the bridge, bridge wings, six lifeboats, radio masts and what appears to be a pair of derricks. The midships superstructure appears to have an open space in the middle of it. The main superstructure is positioned at the stern and incorporates accommodation, four lifeboats, a crane mounted on the starboard side and two funnels mounted side by side painted black, with a red and white company logo and a large doorway that appears to be a chute leading to the stern of the vessel. Vessels details are inscribed on the underneath of the model.
