Basin by Richard Champion zoom

Slop basin, part of a tea service reputedly belonging to Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The moulded porcelain basin is painted with small coloured sprigs of flowers and leaves and has a decorative gold rim. Near the top, three gold lines are interwoven with a continuous blue riband. A small flower sprig is painted inside. The maker's mark is painted on the base.
