Brimscombe halfpenny token commemorating the Thames and Severn Canal. Obverse: Starboard bow view of a barge under sail. Reverse: View of the entrance to tunnel over the canal. Token currency issued by the Thames and Severn Canal Co. to pay the wages of its work force. The vessel on the obverse is a Severn trow; the entrance to the Sapperton tunnel is shown on the reverse.
