Camel carts lined up at Aden
Photograph depicting a line of seven dromedary camels, each is secured to its own two-wheel cart, with large wooden 12-spoked cartwheels, at Aden. Each cart is loaded with a few sacks. The camel in the left of shot is in the foreground and the line proceeds in front of a picket fence to the right of the shot into the distance. At the end of this line is a small flat roofed hut where a group of around three men (presumably local camel herders) are gathered. The legs of another camel herder can just be made out sitting with the reigns of the first camel in his right hand. At the back of the shot is a low, denuded and rocky hill, which rises from the left to the right of the shot. About a third of the composition of the photograph is given away to the sky, and a similarly large proportion of the foreground depicts a fairly flat sand or dirt road.
