Can

A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-1848. A Goldner food can found in an Inuit cache at Cape Maria Louisa by the Schwatka Search Expedition 1878-1879. A food can made of iron plate, tinned and soldered with traces of red paint on the base; the top is missing. The can probably held soup. 'GOLDNER'S PATENT' is embossed on the base.
