China plate
An ironstone china dinner plate, white with two royal blue lines around the rim. Printed in the centre, within a blue garter inscribed 'NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY LD' is the house flag of the company - a white flag with a hand-coloured red cross overall, within the quarters the initials 'N Z S Co'. The company monogram is shown on the rim of the plate. The maker's mark is printed on the base with an impressed date code.
