Commemorative Nelson domino box
The inside of this Domino box is decorated with a British sailor mourning at a bust of Nelson. This was a common theme on souvenirs and commemorative pieces after the Battle of Trafalgar. French prisoners of war often supplemented their wages by crafting objects like this domino box and ship models to sell. They would use the beef or mutton bone from their meals and other available materials to create these intricate pieces.
