Container ships 'Discovery Bay', 'Flinders Bay' and 'Jervis Bay' at Tilbury
The container port at Tilbury was London's best chance of retaining its status as Britain's premier port, but a series of labour disputes delayed its opening. Here, three container ships from OCL, Tilbury's biggest client, found themselves together in the port because of the strike of August 1970.
