Counter commemorating the second capture of Rosas, 1693; reverse
Counter commemorating the second capture of Rosas, 1693. Obverse: Head of King Louis XIV in a long wig, high on the forehead (right). Reverse: A flower and two smaller ones rising from the prow of an antique galley, two cherub heads blowing on it from either side. Since the head of the King is that of an elderly man, this probably commemorates the second capture of Rosas. The medals for the first, in 1645, bear the head of the King as a child.
