A crown piece. Obverse: Engraved on a smooth surface a royal crown (centre) surrounded by a laurel garland tied with ribbon and legend and circular inscription in four lines. Legend: 'FRENCH NATIONAL SHIPS CAPTURED OR BURNED'. Below: 'H.M.SHIP ARETHUSA 3 FEBY 1812.' Inscription: 'Cygne 18 Guns, Amphetrite (sic) 46, Do Pauline 20, Seine 44, Loire 44, Hautpoult 80 and many smaller National armed Vessels.' Below: 'Lieut. Peter Brooke Royal Navy and Major of the Mexican Caccadores.' Reverse: The royal arms (centre) and circular inscription.
