Curved bladed dirk
Curved bladed dirk, which belonged to Lieutenant Robert Dixon (died 1837). The hilt of the dirk consists of a straight quillon with inversed ends. The dirk has a plain rounded pommel and back-piece. The black ebony grip is part diamond knurled. The flat-backed steel blade is very curved. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets with rings, and a chape. This type of dirk was introduced into the Royal Navy circa 1820, to be worn by Naval Cadets.
