'Darwen' (1952)

Scale: Unknown. A shipbuilders plating model of motor barges 'Darwen', 'Everton', and 'Farnworth' (1952). The model is made entirely in wood and varnished in its natural state. The model is made in bread-and-butter construction. The hull has been marked with extensive constructional details which include the size and disposition of frames, plates, decks and waterlines, hold spaces, and engine compartments. It is also fitted with a rudder mounted on a stern frame with an aperture for a propeller (not fitted). The model is mounted on a plain soft wood backboard with a moulded edge. The backboard is inscribed: 'Job No. C/9943/W Yard No 778 779 & 780" and "Main Dimensions: - Length BP 61' 0" Breadth Mld 14' 0" Depth Mld 4' 8"'.Original size: 205 mm x 1245 mm x 135 mm
