'Dolphijn', port broadside
Scale: 1:44. A contemporary full hull model of the Dutch East Indiaman 'Dolphijn' (1778). The model is decked, equipped and rigged. 'Anno ├½Ôûê├ÿDe Dolphijn├½Ôûê├ÿ 1778' is inscribed on the stern. The lower masts, tops and bowsprit are believed to be original but the rest of the rigging dates from 1929 and was based on a contemporary drawing of a similar vessel. From the model, the 'Dolphijn' measured 127 feet in length (stem to sternpost) by 41 feet in the beam, displacing approximately 750 tons.
