An earthenware jug, transfer-printed in purple with a hand-painted rim and decoration on the moulded handle in maroon. Under the lip in purple, a portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), inscribed 'ADMIRAL LORD NELSON' based on the engraving by J. Chapman, published in December 1798 (see PAD3884).
