Engine model

Scale: 1:24. A working model of a paddle wheel oscillating engine (circa 1827). The model has been made in metal, the steam feed pipes are copper, the crankshaft is made ofsteel, and the frame and other components are made ofbrass. The three cylinders appear to have been patternated and have an oxidised green finish. The cylinders are arranged in a single row, the middle one remains stationary when the engine is turned over while the first and third cylinders oscillate from side to side. Between the cylinders leavers are set which can be moved up and down. The red painted paddle wheel is made up of three spoked outer rings with three inner rings set side by side and the three sets of spokes are attached to three bosses. There are nine blades. The model is mounted on a tall rectangular wooden baseboard, painted black.
