Engineer lieutenant William Waters, R.N.
An oval photographic miniature of Engineer Lieutenant William Waters, RN. The miniature is a head/shoulders portrait with the sitter looking at the camera in his naval uniform but without his cap. Waters was killed on 1 January 1915 when the pre-Dreadnought battleship HMS Formidable (1898) was sunk by the German submarine U24. He joined the ship on 6 November 1913
